Live-in Care work involves moving into a client’s home for a few weeks at a time to provide round the clock care and support, enabling them to remain independent in the comfort of their own home. Some Live-in Carer duties include providing companionship, helping with daily household tasks and supporting personal hygiene routines.

Live-in Carer responsibilities

As a Live-in Carer at Alina Homecare, you’ll play a vital role in helping clients maintain their independence and quality of life within the comfort of the home. No two days are the same, but your main focus will be providing compassionate, person centred care tailored to each person’s needs and preferences.

Hygiene support
Companionship

You’ll be providing assistance with personal hygiene routines, including washing, oral care, dressing and toileting. As a Live-in Carer, you’ll ensure each client’s personal needs are met in a way that respects their routines and preferences.

Being a consistent, reassuring presence in the client’s daily life is a key part of the role. You’ll provide genuine company and emotional support — whether that’s sharing a meal, enjoying a hobby together, or simply being a friendly, familiar face each day.

Medication
Meal prep

Helping clients stay on top of their prescribed medication is an important part of the Live-in Carer role. You’ll provide reminders to ensure clients take the right medication at the right time, giving them and their families peace of mind.

Good nutrition plays an important part in wellbeing and quality of life. You’ll plan and cook fresh, balanced meals with the client’s preferences and dietary requirements in mind, as well as shopping for groceries if needed.

Housekeeping
Going out

Maintaining a clean and tidy home environment is an important part of the role. You’ll take care of daily household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and tidying, ensuring the client can enjoy a safe and comfortable living space.

Getting out into the local community promotes independence. You’ll accompany clients on a range of outings — whether that’s a leisurely walk in the park, a trip to the shops, medical appointments, or social visits.

What do you need to join us?

If you’re successful, we’ll carry out some job checks required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). How much will I get paid?

Our pay rates are competitive and vary according to different factors, including your location, the hours you work, the client’s needs and whether you’re supporting one client or a couple. Do I need experience to apply?

To apply for one of our Live-in Carer roles, it’s required that you have a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role. In addition, our exclusive Academy will provide all the training you’ll need when you join our Team so you’re ready to provide our award winning care from day one.

Do I need a driving licence and/or a car?

Will I have my own room?

Yes, absolutely. Before we take on a Live-in Care package, we assess the client’s home to ensure you have a private, comfortable room that meets our standards. 

What hours will I work?

We offer a range of different working patterns to suit yours and our client’s needs. Some of our Live-in Carers choose short term placements, others choose more permanent ones. Our friendly Jobs Team work with you to find the right placement.

Where will I work?

You’ll work and live in the clients home. We currently operate across the South of England and have a network of Branch Teams who are there to support you. Find local Live-in Care vacancies near you to get started.

When will I start?

After we receive your application, a member of our Team will call you for a quick chat before booking an interview. If you’re successful, we’ll run some pre-employment checks including a DBS check and collect references. You’ll then complete your induction training via our exclusive Academy.
